Is it March…

Well I truly feel like February went super slow, for me it did.

My excitement from last month was finally having an oral surgeon pull my infected tooth. The lower left back tooth has been giving me issues for months now. I’ve been through 4 courses of antibiotics and the infection goes away for a little and then comes back. There are other issues as well. I have had radiation to that jaw which puts me at risk for osteonecrosis and I also have osteopenia. For both of these reasons most dentists didn’t want to touch the tooth. When you start cutting into the gums in that area, I am at risk of getting osteonecrosis which apparently is a horrible thing to have. Basically the area never heals, it is very painful and there is nothing that can be done for it. That is why no one wanted to do anything.

The oral surgeon that I finally went to felt that because I had such a low amount of radiation to my jaw that it would be fine to remove the tooth. This happened last Thursday. When I looked in my mouth on Sunday I did not see normal healing gum tissue. I freaked out and went in on Monday to see the dentist. I was told that it is still healing and in my case it will take longer and just come back for my follow-up appointment the following week. Fingers crossed it will all be fine and I did the right thing. The dentist kept telling me, “the tooth has to come out either way”. So that’s what I did.

Well tonight I have a brain MRI and Friday I have treatment again. Then the following week we leave for La Quinta!!!

Until next time…

Love you all xoxo

  1. Hi Jen – Great to hear from you. I had a root canal last month and I was really dreading it. Compared to what you’ve been through, the root canal was like brushing my teeth. I’m sure everything will work out well and it’s better to get rid of the source! Here’s praying that your scans will be positive and you’ll be ready to enjoy La Quinta. You are in my prayers every night and I believe someone is watching over you. Enjoy your trip, give Mark my love and much love to you. Love you, Martie🙏❤️

    1. Hi Martie, thank you for the message. Oh and I had a root canal first then they pulled it!! I hope this works.
I have the rest of my scans when we get back from La Quinta so I’ll know everything mid April. Looking forward to our trip and Mike coming to visit. Take care. Love you 💕
